| Red
Star Rising |
The sequel to Barbarossa; Red Star Rising looks at the
Soviet advance into Eastern Europe from 1943 to 1945. Except for Polish and
Greek partisans, Western Allied units are not used. Note: Besides defeating
Germany, Stalin's main goal was to seize as much of Eastern Europe as he
could before the war ended, so the European capitals figure prominently in
the victory conditions. This is not a "Berlin at all costs" scenario! |

Spanish
Civil War (Version 2)
|
Although the two sides in the Spanish Civil War were evenly
matched in terms of manpower and willpower, the greater material assistance
provided to Franco by Germany and Italy, combined with dissension among the
Republican factions, led to the Fall of the Spanish Republic in early 1939,
before the time period of A World at War. Still, the Civil War provided
something of the ferocity and drama of the Eastern Front on a much smaller
battlefield and in spite of the lack of resources and space for blitzkrieg
tactics, is worth reproducing. |

Operation Cartwheel |
After the Japanese
defeats at Coral Sea and Midway Moresby, Japan attempted to solidify its
defensive perimeter as the Allies began a dual offensive across the central
Pacific and through the south west Pacific. The latter began with the
struggle at Guadalcanal and then became the ambitious Operation Cartwheel
that sought to break through the Japanese defenses in the Solomon Islands,
Eastern New Guinea and in the Bismarck Archipelago. |
| Midway |
The battle of Midway, which
resulted in the crippling of the Japanese naval air arm, arose as a result
of the ambitious plan to seize the important island base of Midway and force
a decisive showdown with the American carriers which escaped the Pearl
Harbor attack. |
|
Guadalcanal |
After the Japanese defeat at Coral
Sea and the aborted invasion of Port Moresby, the focus became the strategic
heart of the Solomon islands – Guadalcanal. |
| Imphal |
The Japanese campaign to invade
India and establish an area of control for the INA began with a diversionary
attack in the Arakan peninsula (Ha-Go) and lead to the destruction of the
15th XXXX at Imphal and Kohima in the failed main invasion (U-Go). The
British counterattacked (Capital) and the ensuing rout left Burma for the
taking. |

Singapore |
In December, 1941 Japan unleashed
its offensive in Southeast Asia catching the Allies off guard and
overrunning all of the Allied colonial possessions within three months. The
fall of Singapore, the alleged “Gibraltar of the East”, and the sinking of
the Prince of Wales and the Repulse destroyed the myth of European supremacy
and collapsed the Allies position. |
